Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born  in Mveso, Transkei on July 18, 1918 and died on December 5, 2013 at his home in Johannesburg.

In 1993 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He voted for the very first time in his life during 1994 and was inaugerated as  South Africa’s first democratically elected President on May 10, 1994.

He was and still is an inspiration to all.

Nelson Mandela was a formidable person and through his philosophy of forgiveness and compassion, he set an example not only for South Africans, but for everyone across the world.

Quote 2: If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.”

Madiba proved this statement of his, when he proposed a new national anthem, combining the former anthem with Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which means “God Bless Africa.” He won the heart of the nation when he walked onto the field at the end of the 1995 Rugby World Cup in  Springbok colors. That action depicts his wisdom and ability to be a true leader.

Quote 3: “I can’t pretend that I’m brave and that I can beat the whole world.”

Mandela conquered the world not by force, but by his compassion, his unique leadership, his spirit of forgiveness and his ability to reach people with his words and actions.

The legacy of Nelson Mandela will live forever.
